Expanding Access

Communities and industries in remote parts of Canada typically rely on diesel, propane or other fuel oils for heating and to generate power. These fuel options are higher emitting, more expensive, and less reliable than natural gas.

Liquefied Natural Gas

LNG is a clean and affordable energy solution for northern and remote communities. It can safely be transported in storage tanks on trucks, ships, or rail to a regasification facility near businesses and communities where it can be used to heat or generate power.

LNG Benefits

A 2016 report shows that by 2025, new LNG customers in Canada’s North could save over $2.1 billion in energy costs and support a cumulative reduction in CO2 of 11.1 million tonnes.
