Strategic Considerations for Hydrogen-based Energy Systems

June 2nd, 2022
1:00 pm (Eastern Time)

Hydrogen is an effective tool in the shift towards a sustainable low carbon energy sector. Canada is one of the largest producers of hydrogen globally. How can organizations support the transition to a low carbon economy by pioneering solutions like hydrogen? David Campbell will discuss the impacts of decarbonizing natural gas and the potential of utilizing existing energy infrastructure.

Applications of expensive hydrogen fuel in gas turbine energy facilities will involve a diversity of systems that demonstrate high value with a low carbon footprint, flexible integration with renewable energy and storage, reliability and resilience, as well as energy efficiency. This will be a brief overview of industrial gas turbine systems in Canadian energy applications, as well as research and environmental considerations for technology and standards to advance efficient decarbonisation using hydrogen-based fuels.
