The Canadian Gas Association (CGA) welcomes the introduction of Bill C-39 and its focus on improving the efficiency, predictability, and coordination of Canada’s project review framework.
The proposed measures would streamline federal review processes, establish clearer decision timelines, and improve coordination among regulators, departments, and Indigenous communities. These changes can help strengthen investor confidence and support the development of the energy infrastructure needed to serve Canadians and sustain economic growth.
“Canada deserves a regulatory system which is rigorous, predictable and forward-looking,” said Susanna Zagar, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Gas Association. “Bill C-39 represents a meaningful step toward achieving that balance.
Efficient regulatory processes at both federal and provincial levels are essential to Canada’s economic growth and competitiveness. Timely investment in natural gas infrastructure will help ensure Canadians continue to have access to affordable and reliable energy.
